What this course covers

Control the fall before you have to arrest it

  • Where fall hazards come from — unprotected edges, holes, leading edges, and working on or near elevated surfaces.
  • The hierarchy of fall protection: eliminate the hazard, then passive protection like guardrails and covers, then personal fall arrest as the last line.
  • The ABCs of a personal fall arrest system — anchorage, body harness and connectors — and inspecting a harness and lanyard before every use.

What the course does — and what stays with your employer

This course builds awareness of fall hazards and how fall protection works. It does not by itself make anyone a competent or qualified person for fall protection, and it does not replace your employer’s fall-protection plan, the equipment-specific training for the systems you use, or a rescue plan for anyone working in a harness.

These are hazard-awareness and workplace-training courses. They are not OSHA Outreach Training Program courses and do not result in a DOL card, which only an OSHA-authorized trainer can issue. Completing a course supports your employer’s compliance with the standard it covers; it does not by itself make anyone authorized, competent or certified to operate equipment. EHSTEC is not affiliated with or endorsed by OSHA.
